I specialize in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and systems performance. My research interests include privacy-preserving healthcare systems, federated learning for clinical applications, and medical AI diagnostics.

I act as a technical owner and decision-maker for complex initiatives, leading zero-to-one efforts and guiding cross-functional teams. I balance hands-on system design and implementation with mentorship, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of durable, production-grade solutions.

I serve as Associate Editor for IEEE Internet of Things Journal and npj Digital Medicine (Nature Portfolio). My published work spans federated learning, medical imaging, IoT security, and cloud systems.

  • NVIDIA (NVFlare federated learning framework) — Fixed a silent correctness bug in the edge training simulator that was wiping optimizer momentum state between batches and degrading model convergence on every run that used momentum, Nesterov, or weight decay
  • Grafana Labs (Grafana) — Added a colorblind-safe color palette for data visualizations, making dashboards readable for users with red-green color vision deficiency
  • Prometheus (CNCF-graduated monitoring system) — Added a delete-series admin page to the Prometheus user interface, exposing series deletion that was previously only reachable through the admin API
  • U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Simpler Grants, the grants.gov next-generation site) — Fixed 404 pages that were returning HTTP 200, restoring correct status signals for search engine indexing and uptime monitoring
  • Expedia Group (Bull Java bean transformer library) — Fixed a long-standing field mapping bug where primitive fields mapped into nested objects raised MissingFieldException, using ThreadLocal to preserve root source context across recursive transformations
  • NVIDIA (NVFlare federated learning framework) — Added model and dataset caching across federated learning rounds in the Hello Flower examples, removing redundant per-round initialization
  • Huly Platform (open-source collaboration platform) — Added spellcheck support to the text editor components used across the platform
